participate

We will be sharing our cameras with the community this year. Our intention is to engage participants in art making. The act of creation is ultimately our gift. The prints are the by-product.

In the past, groups would come by our camp and pose in front of a big walk-in box that was our camera / darkroom. The exposure took 90 seconds and after a few minutes a hot, sweaty pinholer would pop out of the box with a huge paper negative dripping with fixer.

This year, the community will be using the cameras. We will empower users to decide the composition and exposure while they document other playa installations. We only ask that you write down your exposure time, location, time of day, and your thoughts.

We are the collectors of your documentaries along with your responses to our questionaire. We will develop your pictures, and this body of work will become a collaborative vision of this event. We now see our burning man world in pinhole.

help needed:

Darkroom design and construction.

We are using a 14' x 7' wide x 6.5' tall truck.

The current plan is to create an open-air entrance with four pannels of duvateen for the entrance.

A loose curtain will be placed at the outside doorway to block out light. It will hang very loose.

We will have one table to hold the developer, the stop will sit on floor below.

Fixer will also sit on floor.
